Headlamp technology has taken leaps and bounds the past several years, and a leader since 1975 has been Trenton, New Jersey based Princeton Tec. Cutting edge research and development in multiple modes and beam patterns, LED optic collimators, battery power metering, heatsink technology and waterproofing may sound like a lot of scientific gobble-de-goop, but if it makes your headlamp perform up to your expectations under demanding conditions, all the better. Now Princeton Tec introduces the Apex, a state-of-the-art headlamp that does, indeed, take advantage of all that technological gobble-de-goop. Start with multiple modes. The Apex has five, four light levels and a safety flash. Switching modes is easy with the independent dual switch system. With 60 lumens of output, the headlamp has a Maxbright 3-watt LED and four Ultrabright LED's to go from wide angle to long-range lighting beams. The proprietary heatsink technology allows the LED's to burn brighter and longer without overheating. Maximum burn time is 150 hours on Ultrabright low.
